This fan club letter
is dated November 30, 1951. It is fully signed "Joan Crawford" in
blue ink. The envelope is dated December 10, 1951.
Following are some
excerpts:
"I know you
will miss the journal and only hope that in the near future we will be able
to organize again. To know that you will continue to write and be my friend
made me most happy."
"I know how
busy you must be with a new position and also trying to keep house. The work
sounds interesting and I know you will enjoy it when things settle
down."
"I still am
very busy and find my days quite long as I am at the studio so late. Now
with Christmas so near I really go around in circles. The children are so
excited and I find myself just as enthused as they are as we plan together
for the holiday festivities."
This letter is one
of many movie star items that belonged to a woman called Lila who amassed
quite a collection of autographs and belonged to several fan clubs. She
saved all of her autographs and fan club books. Lila corresponded with Joan
for at least 6 years prior to this letter and at least 4 years after. |
