Clarence Bull was another of Norma Shearer's prominent portrait
photographers. Though well-known and recognizable, his studies of Norma
reveal more down-to-earth aspects, qualities in marked contrast to, for
example, George Hurrell's ethereal immortalizations of Norma. Clarence
Bull presents us with playful Norma, or perhaps even collegiate Norma at
times-- yet more testimony to the woman who was able to project myriad
emotions employing the most subtle of gestures... all captured through the
years by professionals like Clarence Bull.
