Donald (USA) on Bette Davis
"... because I love gold."

Deb (USA) on Bette Davis
"Fab acting. Insisted on doing things her own way before anyone, male or female, bucked the studio system."

Adrian (USA) on Bette Davis
"In my mind this woman is Hollywood. She paved the way for strong willed women and I think for that she is phenomenal."

Gloria (Italy) on Bette Davis
"She's simply the best. I mean, I'm talking about a superb woman and an excellent actress."

"Her acting is timeless and is what today's actresses lack. Her unconformity."

Eva (Argentina) on Bette Davis
"... because she is a great actress. I love her eyes!"

Carolyn (USA) on Bette Davis
"Bette Davis exemplifies the true diva. Her skills are incredible and her face is unforgettable. She had the ability to take her craft seriously, and herself lightly. Her comments, although often mocking her rivals, or up and coming actresses, were witty, and hysterical."

Fiona (Hong Kong) on Bette Davis
"It is just too easy to pick from the list, Bette always stand out from the rest.  She has the attitude and style that is so stunning and incomparable.  Bette Davis is always the ultimate diva.  And what is more, unlike many other divas, she did it the hard way."

Maria (USA) on Bette Davis
"She was always in command of her performance.  She also had presence."

Marie (USA) on Bette Davis

"Bette is the greatest actress in the world!"

Jorge (Portugal) on Bette Davis
"She's the best."

Danny (UK) on Bette Davis
"I love these women cos they had the balls and they didn't care they fought like dogs to get what they want and they are an inspiration. I love u, Bette and Joan."

Timothy (USA) on Bette Davis
"Need one explain?  All you need is to watch "All About Eve", dahling.  If that wasn't enough, Miss Davis had countless other roles (Jezebel, Dark Victory, and Fanny Skeffington leap to mind) that fit the diva criteria like a glove.  Off screen, she lived the diva role, also.  The voice, the eyes, the attitude.  She redefined and perfectly crystallized what it meant to be diva and set the bar for all who came after and all that are yet to come.  To quote a musical, "It may be hard to be the diva, but it's so much harder not to be."

Anna (UK) on Bette Davis
"She's the ultimate and classic."

Ava Ruth (UK) on Bette Davis
"She is everything. She was determined and she did everything her way. She fought and was never afraid to stand up for her own rights... and above all, she was a great actress and had the magnetic force of attraction which kept people interested many yeas after she died and for many year to come."

Loli (Argentina) on Bette Davis
"What a actress! I just can say, 'wow!! Like most people say, "She kicked ass!" Bette Davis still rocks!"

Maite (Spain) on Bette Davis
"... because she was a great actress, but also a strong woman and because she managed to be a star in spite of the fact that she was not a beauty."

Franco (Italy) on Bette Davis
"I choose the great and unforgettable Bette Davis because no one can do it like her. Everybody knows that she is the perfect diva of all time: clever, unconventionally beautiful, strong personality, great talent... Nobody is better than Miss Davis. Bette still rules!"

Paula (Canada) on Bette Davis
"She was the best.  Everything with her was larger than life.  She had the biggest set (of you know what) in Hollywood history."

Sheine (Brazil) on Bette Davis
"She challenged the beauty standard of her time with talent and great personality.  She still rocks! Bette Davis forever!"

Lulu (USA) on Bette Davis
"The broad had balls!"

Elizabeth (USA) on Bette Davis
"She's my fav diva because she's so powerful on the screen and she's one of the greatest actresses that ever lived. She went through so much to achieve her dream and she did it so marvellously."

Woodey (USA) on Bette Davis
"She was such an incomparable actress. She was just great."

Thais (Brazil) on Bette Davis
"... because she is just perfect. The only one in our time who can show personality."

Carly (UK) on Bette Davis
"She was talented, a great star, and I love her movies."

Sam (USA) on Bette Davis
"Bette Davis is my favorite diva because she is the first woman of American Cinema. The woman was independent and did what she did best and that's all she did, act, until the day she died."

Amanda (USA) on Bette Davis
"She is my favorite diva because she plays such an great glamorous women in roles. And she has the power to put in to the role as a diva."

Lois (USA) on Bette Davis
"The ultimate actress, not a "movie star" but a down home grown from the muscle... can play any part... fabulously dramatic actress."

Damaris (USA) on Bette Davis
"Need you ask?"

Herb (USA) on Bette Davis
"Ms. D. was hard as nails and had to be in a man's world. Did not take bull from anyone that tried to use her and tell her what to do.  A very independent lady, who relied on herself.  Strong willed, firey.  A damn good actress."

Pammy (India) on Bette Davis
"She was a natural."

Ashley (USA) on Bette Davis
"She was very proud and did not care what others thought.  She wasn't a girly girl and did what she needed to do to be a diva."

Chris (Australia) on Bette Davis
"She was glamourous, she was  gutsy, she was a total bitch and didn't take shit from no-one. I love Bette Davis!"

Jen (UK) on Bette Davis
"She's Bette Davis. Enough said."

Luke (UK) on Bette Davis
"Bette Davis, the original Hollywood Queen gave a voice and identity to women that had never been seen before and certainly will not be seen again. Charismatic, absorbing and possessing an immense talent, as soon as she hits the screen in any role she projects to the audience a star quality that is unmistakable. A real pioneer in her field she took roles that other actresses ran from, never afraid to be cast as ugly or vicious this perhaps explained her long career after other actresses had long since retired or hidden away with their fading glamour. Being a Diva is all about an attitude, and Miss Davis had more attitude in her little finger than all the other Diva candidates put together."

F.E. (USA) on Bette Davis
"Talent, drive and ego... what more could you ask for!"

Rich (USA) on Bette Davis
"At only 5'3" tall she embodied the spirit of the diva by not only being a great talent with backbreaking work habits, but she also demanded respect for both attributes."

Don (Denmark) on Bette Davis
"First of all she was the greatest actress ever but also sexy, sensual and always just beyond reach! Plus she was always a strong woman on and off the screen! She was the greatest actress ever, charismatic, strong and full of life."

Dan (USA) on Bette Davis
"She fought all her life for the right to set her own high standards in her work. She even fought for the right to work in her own profession.  In the face of tragedy she prevailed, and she retained her personal principles through her life.  Her body of work still stands as a standard against which other actresses work in film is measured.  Her work reigns supreme."

Mark (UK) on Bette Davis
"She can act in a way which is so dismissive of her co-stars, almost holding an upper air, an almost snobbish quality, which I am afraid could not be mastered more perfectly than her! Her rolling eyes, and the way in which she pandered to her cigarette, gave her that air of superstardom, which indeed, only Bette could carry to the most forceful of effect!"

Frank (USA) on Bette Davis
"I know Katharine Hepburn is the one with 4 Oscars, but who the hell ever had more attitude, ego, and guts than Bette Davis? Hepburn stayed aloof and away from Hollywood. Davis talked trash but really needed their love. A powerhouse! Believe me, there will never, ever be another Bette Davis! Fantastic!"

Moroso (Canada) on Bette Davis
"I don't need a reason to like dame Bette Davis!"

Brandon (USA) on Bette Davis
"... because she epitomizes the word diva.  When I hear the word, I always think of her immediately."

Lauren (USA) on Bette Davis
"She's sassy, witty, doesn't mince words, and is unconventionally beautiful."

Bill (USA) on Bette Davis
"Her attitude defines diva."

Ben (USA) on Bette Davis
"Bette Davis is a fierce actress that catches my attention every time she's on screen. She's like no other actress. Her talent and drive to be the best and take no bullshit from anyone is a true inspiration."

Nicole (USA) on Bette Davis
"Well, Bette Davis was a great actresses, beautiful, and was so amazingly cool and witty and funny. No one is cooler than Bette Davis."

Tomy (USA) on Bette Davis
"Bette Davis was difficult, a perfectionist, extremely glamorous, and a terrific actress, she is certainly a diva."

Grace (USA) on Bette Davis
"I kind of look like her and I like attitude."

Colleen (USA) on Bette Davis
"She was, is, and always will be spectacular. Back in her day, she was considered by some unattractive. They were ignorant and blind. She was beautiful. Bette had such incredible talent and presence. She was larger than life."

Marie (USA) on Bette Davis
"She is my favorite because she made every role she played her own and added a personal touch to it like no other actress."

Jacob (USA) on Bette Davis
"Bette represents the true Hollywood queen.  She knew how to flaunt her influence and she did!  There was a reason why they called her the Fourth Warner Brother."  She made her presence known."

Stephen (UK) on Bette Davis
"... because she gave 101% to every performance and never cared what people thought."

Patrick (UK) on Bette Davis
"Those eyes, those lips, that mouth. She was one sassy, salty broad."

Albin (Canada) on Bette Davis
"She had guts!"

Adele (USA) on Bette Davis
"She is the most powerful actress that I have ever seen, all fireworks and determination. She sets a wonderful standard for me to aspire to as an actress."

Reginald (USA) on Bette Davis
"Bette Davis, who should have been the first woman to win three Oscars (Academy Awards), is my favorite diva because even when she was being the greatest caricature of herself, she was absolutely the most watchable actress, and no one has come close to match her screen persona and talent -- not Katharine Hepburn, not Joan Crawford, not even Barbara Stanwyck, contemporaries of hers whom I think were good actresses and watchable, but not as dynamic or charismatic on the screen as the greatest diva of the them all, Miss Bette Davis.  Contrary to popular belief, Beyond  the Forest, was not Bette Davis's worst film.  Even when I am extremely exhausted, I have never gone to sleep on any Bette Davis picture with one exception: Winter Meeting.  If she had been allowed to film the movie she wanted and address the controversial subject matter in an intelligent and thoughtful manner,  perhaps even that movie would have been a success.  The times and censorship would not allow this, however.  Two slights in my opinion were Bette Davis's losses of the Oscars for the Little Foxes and All About Eve.  She might have even won for Now Voyager. She should have been nominated for the Virgin Queen and Hush...Hush Sweet Charlotte.  I believe the Diva Davis should get her third Oscar posthumously.  I was originally a Joan Crawford fan because of Mildred Pierce, but having seen Bette Davis in a number of movies when I was too young or movie conscious to know that she was the "fourth Warner Brother" and a star to be reckoned with, I became swept away with her screen persona and with her movies.  Joan Crawford, whom I still admire very much, is no Bette Davis.  Katharine Hepburn was extremely lucky in her choice of films, but she too is no Bette Davis.  For years, I did not know or realize that Joan Crawford was the other star in Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?  Joan's acting was good, but Bette's was over the top and the way she did her role made me forget everybody else in the film.  Bette was a survivor, a consummate actress, and will remain in the memory of many the ultimate diva."

Len (USA) on Bette Davis
"She is the best. Liz is a 2nd fav but Davis is the greatest."

Amy (USA) on Bette Davis
"She was so real. She spoke her mind always, and she made smoking cool! She was a fabulous actress, no matter what kind of part she had. She was believable. She was strong, and she was a trouper."

Bran (Italy) on Bette Davis
"A great actress and a sweet-cruel diva."

Susan (USA) on Bette Davis
"One reason - her role in All about Eve."

Christopher (USA) on Bette Davis
"She's the greatest actress that ever lived."

Charles (USA) on Bette Davis
"... because she was a great actress as well as a star."

Debra (USA) on Bette Davis
"There is so much to say about Miss Davis. She took on the Hollywood big boys and won. She had something that you don't see much of in Hollywood today-- style, class and courtesy.  She also had killer wit (how can you not love her quotes?)  I haven't even mentioned her acting, of which she gave her all. She gave herself.  She had one helluva work ethic too. She is sadly missed by so many... just the way she would have wanted it!"

Curran (USA) on Bette Davis
"... because she is Blanche, she is--- enough said."

Lois (USA) on Bette Davis
"She was the most fabulous dramatic actress to ever grace the silver screen and she had a crazy personal life filled with many ups and downs and multiple husbands."

Claudia (USA) on Bette Davis
"Her movies were wonderful and her personality more so."

Ngu (USA) on Bette Davis
"She's the greatest - bitchy, smart and talented!"

Ricardo (Argentina) on Bette Davis
"... because she owns herself. True divas must have very strong convictions and be able to face without fear people like Louis B. Mayer or Aaron Spelling. Glamour is important, and Audrey Hepburn or Grace Kelly had it, but they were big stars, not divas. A diva is Miss Davis, other Maria Callas. They are above structures, they impose themselves, do not follow rules, are free and have fiery temperaments. Without an exceptional audacious character (like that of a spoiled child) you cannot be called a diva. Diva comes from God. Garbo retired when she wanted, did what she wanted More mysterious and less strong than Davis, she is - undeniably - a diva, too, though I prefer Davis."

Ted (USA) on Bette Davis
"She is just the best film actress ever. She is fearless in her choices. She really never gave a damn what anyone thought - she just did it - with style and panache to spare. She was never dull."

Aislinn (Canada) on Bette Davis
"She is Bette freaking Davis! How can she not be on top!?"

Patty (USA) on Bette Davis
"She was the most beautiful actress in  Hollywood!"

Françoise (Belgium) on Bette Davis
"She is a pearl, a marvel, a fighter, a brilliant actress, a beautiful person in and out, and she means what she says and says what she means. I miss Bette Davis a lot."

Joshua (USA) on Bette Davis
"She may not be a beauty.. but she rocks."

Bjarke (Denmark) on Bette Davis
"She was a superb actress with an almost superhuman ability to control her expression. Perhaps Katharine Hepburn has managed to play her roles as good as Davis played hers, but on the other hand Davis always took the more difficult ones."

Erin (USA) on Bette Davis
"She had such attitude about everything.  If she didn't like you, watch out, because she would crucify you publicly."

Nicola (UK) on Bette Davis
"She hated Joan Crawford more than I do which must have been quite an effort, she was a mad old bitch and All About Eve is the best bitch fest ever made. Anita Ekberg should get an honourable mention for being a mad old lady who slags off lesser divas brilliantly."

Ken (USA) on Bette Davis
"... because Bette kicks ass!"

Kathleen (USA) on Bette Davis
"Bette Davis is my fav diva because she is incredibly powerful all on her own."

Liane (UK on Bette Davis
"I love her spirit and strength. My aunt was named after her but sadly changed her name as she felt it gave her age away."

Gloria (Italy) on Bette Davis
"She was strong, she had character, and those eyes!"

Lorenz (Philippines) on Bette Davis
"... because I love her acting style."

Molimensa (Spain) on Bette Davis
"Era la autentica mala malisima que apesar de no tener belleza fisica supo estar rodeada de lo mejor, me encantan todas sus peliculas, y creo que transmitia en la pantalla todo lo que un actor puede interpretar. Ha sido la mejor entre los mejores. Viva Bette Davis."

James (USA) on Bette Davis
"... because she was all class and knew how to deliver a line. She was fantastic and no one could come close."

Meghan (USA) on Bette Davis
"I love her attitude and her view on life. I believe she had many great points to make."

Nikki (USA) on Bette Davis
"Unlike Julia Roberts & more like Joan Crawford, Bette Davis really, truly is something called a diva."

Victor (Mexico) on Bette Davis
"She is simply the best actress, capable of making the most out of any role, at any age, under any budget and work conditions. A woman of great strength and in my opinion a great fighter. I just love her."

Audrey (Canada) on Bette Davis
"She was a very good actress. I liked her movies."

Victoria (Canada) on Bette Davis
"Ms. Davis was a very talented and pretty movie star. I love her movies, she was very dynamic and a powerful presence in the movies."

Moti (Israel) on Bette Davis
"Absolutely the best of all time."

Terry (USA) on Bette Davis
"Without the advantage of beauty, she rose above her peers to define the word star through sheer force of personality and talent. She created the ultimate Diva -- Margo Channing -- before whom all others pale."

Kulot (South Korea) on Bette Davis
"Superb, intense acting. Developed her own acting genre."

Ashley (Canada) on Bette Davis
"She is my role model: elegance, talent, beauty, no nonsense type of lady. Quoting Hedda Hopper: "We will never see their (Davis & Crawford) likes again.""

Michael (USA) on Bette Davis
"Bette Davis has to be the diva of all time. I did not know much about her till a few years ago. Then I started seeing her movies on T.V. And wow! What a woman. She was the first actress to take on a roll that others did not want to play because they were afraid to play a bitch in Of Human Bondage 1934. Then in 1939 after winning 2 Oscars she made 5 movies that were all hits. She is the only actress that has been nominated 5 times in a row. Then came All About Eve. She played Margo Channing like a true Broadway diva. Then played a faded diva in The Star. Then Came Whatever Happened to Baby Jane. What a performance!! She went on to do Televison movies and won an Emmy and was the first woman to win an AFI Award. I think a diva has to prove herself through time and body of work she has done. I do not think if you did one good movie or sing one or two hit songs you become a diva. I'm sorry but all those young female singers are not divas. Cher is a diva. Tina Turner is a diva. Actresses and singers who have been around a long time and worked very hard have the right to be called divas. You just don't become a diva overnight. You work hard for many years before you can be honored with that title. And Bette Davis has worked harder then anyone else. She has proved to all of Hollywood and the world that she is the Altra Diva."

Donna (USA) on Bette Davis
"She was great at what she did and I love her."

Antonio (Spain) on Bette Davis
"Her performance in All About Eve has been the standard against which I measure the performances of other actresses, it was simply stunning and unforgettable."

Carlo (Italy) on Bette Davis
"She's charming, versatile and charismatic: she's simply the best!"

Al (USA) on Bette Davis
"Fuck Joan Crawford. This girl is the Ultimate Bitch!"

Allen (USA) on Bette Davis
"She is the epitome of all that diva stands for.  She is witty, intelligent, an overpowering screen presence, the best actress in American history and a true bitch.  I am truly in love with her."

Christina (USA) on Bette Davis
"Her distinguished, singular, unique way of emoting in her films. She was a multi-faceted actress who could portray Queen Elizabeth I and the violent psychotic, Baby Jane. She knew what she wanted, and she got it. Also,
she had Bette Davis Eyes!"

Vance (USA) on Bette Davis
"She was a very glamorous actress that always seemed quite strong willed. She embodied female empowerment and could be extremely manipulative. She was a versatile performer who played many distinctive roles convincingly. She wasn't type cast although many of her roles have wickedness in common. She also had an endearing and charming side that would offset her ferocity. I admire her for being a very talented woman who made bold statements with her life and career."

Russell (USA) on Bette Davis
"She defines the word epitome because that is what she is.  She is the epitome of talent, class and an edgy boldness that since its existence in her has never duplicated itself in another human being.  Bette Davis is a woman, a hell of an actress and truly defines what a diva really is."

Tammy (USA) on Bette Davis
"She was not just an actress, she was a star she had it."

Robin (Canada) on Bette Davis
"Supreme diva in style, presentation, work produced and attitude."

Thomas (USA) on Bette Davis
"The epitome of a star!"

Frederick (USA) on Bette Davis
"She is raw and real... temper and talent."

Tom (USA) on Bette Davis
"The span of her career is beyond enough proof of the rank she deserves, and her consistent excellence and the stands she made on behalf of her work were remarkable."

Breanne (USA) on Bette Davis
"She is the first diva to ever hit it in the mainstream and no one can match her bitchy but smart acting talents. She played all independent women, and she always had to have it her way. She never would let any man tell her the way it was, she never did on screen and she never did in real life, that's what makes her 100% top diva."

Bruce (USA) on Bette Davis
"... because she is the most diva-ish of all the greats!"

Greg (USA) on Bette Davis
"Flawless performances."

Connie (USA) on Bette Davis
"She did it her way yet there was kindness within."

Alexandra-Iona (Italy) on Bette Davis
"I like her because of the way she acts. It doesn't matter if she isn't the most beautiful woman in Hollywood. She was very strong and although she didn't have an easy life, she managed to find her true way and to become loved by millions of people round the world. I also like her because she looks like my mom. In my opinion she is the best actress ever born."

Rachael (USA) on Bette Davis
"She was truly the Queen of the movies. She also was a humanitarian with setting up the Hollywood Canteen- a club for Service Men during World War II, which fed them and gave them the chance to meet Hollywood Stars."

Robb (USA) on Bette Davis
"She's the best actress ever!"

Emily (USA) on Bette Davis

Michelle (USA) on Bette Davis
"She was awesome as an actress and a true diva in life."

George (USA) on Bette Davis
"Bette had such class, always dressed to the nines. I also like that she had a cigarette lit constantly I love all her movies, she was an excellent actress. They don't make them like that anymore."

Rosemary (USA) on Bette Davis
"No one can compare to her. When she was on the screen everyone else became insignificant."

Denissa (Hungary) on Bette Davis
"The best actress ever. Words cannot express."

Susan (UK) on Bette Davis
"... because she is tough, bitchy, and bewitching."

Pauline (UK) on Bette Davis
"... coz she's a crazy cat."

Jon (UK) on Bette Davis
"She is without doubt, the finest actress ever and also the biggest bitch."

Jason (USA) on Bette Davis
"Thrilling!"

Steve (USA) on Bette Davis
"She made her own way, took no guff, and was still successful."

Luna (Portugal) on Bette Davis
"She is a great and charismatic actress."

Luciane (Brazil) on Bette Davis
"A very good actress and a very intelligent woman."

Safron (UK) on Bette Davis
"Style and star quality."

Sherri (USA) on Bette Davis
"No matter what part she played, she captivated the screen. She could look beautiful (in her younger years) and ugly (in her later years), but it didn't matter, because her acting and her voice took over every role with an expertise that no other actress has displayed.  She gives me strength when I watch her and I plan to collect every one of her movies!"

Barbara (USA) on Bette Davis
"Love all of her movies, love her style, them there eyes. No one else even comes close!"

Donna (USA) on Bette Davis
"Style, class, presence, command!"

Roy (USA) on Bette Davis
"Her talent & artistry outshines all others!"

Catherine (USA) on Bette Davis
"She can take almost any role and make you think about that character, her thoughts, her feelings, and her reactions. That 'thinking' is what is missing in movies today. Her acting is just plain amazing."

Michael (USA) on Bette Davis
"Its very hard to pick one diva. There are quite a few out there but Bette Davis is on the top of all divas. She has been around longer in movies then anyone else. Her acting range is phenomenal. We will never see anyone like her again in Hollywood. She won 2 Oscars & everyone knows she should have won at least 2 more. She was the queen of Hollywood and remains that way. I heard that actresses like Meryl Streep, Jane Fonda, Julia Roberts, Jessica Lange and Cher use her as a role model. Not bad. I could go on for a long time but I think you guys got the point. Thank you."

Michelle (Germany) on Bette Davis
"Tough decision between Bette, Liz and Judy. All have had their fair share of tragedy, are extraordinarily glam and endure. The decision was based on location. Bette was born in the right place and died in the right place for divadom. Call me a snob."

Karin (USA) on Bette Davis
"Tough and no nonsense with the talent to back it up."

Crystal (Canada) on Bette Davis
"Bette Davis is beautiful. My favorite movies are Jezebel, All About Eve, and Baby Jane. If you put on a Bette Davis movie for my 5 year old sister, she will sit down and watch it with her eyes glued to the screen."

C.M. (USA) on Bette Davis
"Miss Davis was a real star. Right up to the day she passed on. There will never be another quite like her. She is and always will be the Drama Mama!"

Renee (Australia) on Bette Davis
"Her vibrancy and persona made her the diva that she is... she will always be remembered as the bossy bitch that pushed for her roles and helped make it easier for women to come. She's the best!"

James  (USA) on Bette Davis
"She always kicked ass & never let man or woman run over her at all. Her greatest role to me was the Little Foxes (1941) but she played to the best always. From one of her books: "You know you made it, when they call you a bitch!"  Love her! Only!"

Andy (USA) on Bette Davis
"She was wonderful actress and her films at the time showed a different, non conventional, type of woman."

Michael (USA) on Bette Davis
"I believe her gift to us was her fiercely focused characterizations of a variety of female arch-types.  Her talent was truly galvanizing and will never be forgotten or
topped."

Cara (UK) on Bette Davis
"I think she is a fabulous actress. Her power on screen just blows me away. She comes across as a strong woman and I can look up to this. Bette Davis is one cool diva."

Patricia (USA) on Bette Davis
"Ms. Davis truly broke the Hollywood mold of an actress due to the main fact that she could act. However, talent can only get a person so far in any business, but Davis possessed a tremendous amount of discipline and brought a multidimensionality to the various women she portrayed; any woman could relate with her characters. Davis' persona lives on even after her untimely ending and she still remains a true inspiration for artists and women alike, thus marking her as a Grande Diva!"

S.B. (USA) on Bette Davis
"Brilliant, strong performances that inspire women of strength."

Kelly (USA) on Bette Davis
"One of the best actresses if not the best in cinema history. And her reported battles to play a role the way she thought it should be acted are legendary."

Heather (USA) on Bette Davis
"She is gorgeous! An extraordinary actress. I love her!"

Dustin (USA) on Bette Davis
"... because she fought so hard in the early stage of her career to land better roles , better scripts , better directors, and above all , establish herself as a talented , serious actress. I respect her so much for that. Davis was the first woman to fight for what she wanted to do with her career."

Tommi (USA) on Bette Davis
"She didn't take any crap from anyone and she didn't look like a supermodel yet she was envied by both men and women alike."

S.G. (New Zealand) on Bette Davis
"Her overpowering, passionate and volatile personality which translated on screen as raw, emotional and thrusting performances resulting in her immense screen presence. I love and admire the hugely talented woman behind the actress as well. She is and always will be the all time enduring Queen of Hollywood."

Andrew (Canada) on Bette Davis
"She is the bitch to end all bitches."

Krystina (USA) on Bette Davis
"This woman was, and remains incredible.  How could anyone top Bette Davis?!  Her strength, unique beauty, versatile abilities, sense of humor, passionate eyes that tell all, my God the list goes on! We will never see her likes again. The things she would sacrifice for her roles... what a diva! The diva!"

Sandra (Austria) on Bette Davis
"Bette Davis was a beautiful, strong-minded woman. She didn't play a lady, she was one. Even whilst at the top she didn't lose character, did what she had to do, and got what she wanted. And ultimately that is what really counts in our lives."

Kae (USA) on Bette Davis
"I love all of her movies. Did she make a bad one?"

Allison (UK) on Bette Davis
"She epitomized the graceful/disgraceful face and attitudes of her time, a woman not afraid to get what she wanted and knew how to do just that, a woman who had a beauty so rare that I feel it will be a long time until we see the likes of her again, and she emanated sex."

George (USA) on Bette Davis
"She is the greatest actress of all time! Besides she had a mean streak."

Brian (UK) on Bette Davis
"She was just so marvelous in all her films. She had the ability to be frightening as in 'Whatever Happened To Baby Jane' to the bitch of all bitches in 'All About Eve' to the innocent put upon as in 'The Man Who Came To Dinner.' Bette is just the best and leaves actresses of today in the shade."

James (USA) on Bette Davis
"She is just the baddest diva there ever was, I really must say."

Nikki (USA) on Bette Davis
"For all the same reasons I've said before: Bette is the epitome of a diva, she did it the hard way, she re-defined 'beautiful', etc. I feel that Bette is not only a true diva, but THE diva."

Mark (UK) on Bette Davis
"She has style, she has grace. She moves with the utmost of grace and her acting ability is second to none. Her ability to cut to the Quick is so extraordinary, that she is too brilliant to be ignored!"

Connie (USA) on Bette Davis
"She came off as tough but she had a tender side too. Not afraid to show her vulnerable side too."

Rachel (UK) on Bette Davis
"Her sharp tongue and memorable quotes. Also her power and determination in the hardest period of the Hollywood studio system (1930's-1940's)."

Seki (Japan) on Bette Davis

Deanna (USA) on Bette Davis
"Bette did it her way or made it hell on all."

Melanie (USA) on Bette Davis
"... cause she's awesome!  She wouldn't take any of the studio's crap and there was something about her acting that keeps you glued to your seat."

Kelly (USA) on Bette Davis
"Bette Davis is a gutsy, striking, talented woman before her time. She fought for what she made herself. She had courage to do things, how many other actresses of this area would sing 'They're Either Too Young or Too Old' for the war effort?  And no one could sing it like her. She poured her whole self into every role, playing both demure sweet females and bitches. She forsook beauty and vanity for her art, shaving her forehead when she played Elizabeth I, looking positively ghastly in 'Now, Voyager.'  She didn't rely on her unique looks to get her where she was. She broke the mold of inhibitions, she was a sexually free woman before her time. She lived as she wanted to live. She is the diva of all divas and she deserves all the acclaim she has received. There has never been, or will never be, anyone like her."

Marie (USA) on Bette Davis
"Totally engrossed in her role. She did it her way. I can identify with her ... vulnerable but strong! Even in the most lowly roles she did shine far brighter than any actress today. I have over 80 of her films and TV appearances on tape, books, autographed pics, etc. She was always a star!"

D.D. (USA) on Bette Davis
"If you have you ask, you can't afford it."

Kevin (UK) on Bette Davis
"Mystery, intrigue, spellbinding, Bette Davis"

Janis (USA) on Bette Davis
"She did what she wanted, when she wanted, and with whom she wanted. She never took crap from anyone, she spoke her mind and let the chips fall where they may. And she still managed to break our hearts onscreen."

Huw (UK) on Bette Davis
"... because she was the most versatile actress of her generation. Because she was flamboyant, never feared anything and because she refused to compromise in an age when actresses were expected to be demure and take a back seat."

Rico (Hong Kong) on Bette Davis
"The reason I love her is just because she did it the hard way."

Debra (USA) on Bette Davis
"No one played a better bitch than Miss Davis ... and no one could cut you to shreds better than she, and still get and deserve respect! And those quotes are priceless. She'll always get my vote ... every time. They don't make actresses like her these days!"

She fought her way to the top in a way no other actress did, & she helped re-define the meaning of "beauty."

Bette Davis is my fav diva because she was tough, and she was a bitch when she had to be, which took her far.

Ivar (Norway) on Bette Davis

"Bette Davis eyes and temper!"

Kirsten (USA) on Bette Davis
"Bette Davis is her own woman. She did what she wanted and didn't care what others thought. She wasn't a sex symbol, but she made it anyway. She proved you didn't have to be a bubble-head blonde to be a diva. I love her and admire her so much."

Julius (USA) on Bette Davis

Ruud (Holland) on Bette Davis

Jaimie (UK) on Bette Davis
"This is the lady who, was our Jezebel, we knew all about Margo and remembered what happened to Baby Jane and Cousin Charlotte. She is beyond divadom! Through the clipped mannerisms, the eyes and that voice, she really is diva original!"
