Mazzie is a lovely singing-actress and one of the most
in-demand Broadway divas of the day. She has given Tony Award-nominated
performances as Clara in Passion, Mother in Ragtime, and as
Lili Vanessi in Kiss Me, Kate. She was chosen by John Adams to
appear on the recording of his musical theatre piece I Was Looking at
the Ceiling and Then I Saw the Sky and appeared as Beth in the first
major U.S. revivals of Sondheim's Merrily We Roll Along following
its original Broadway production. She has participated in several concerts
honoring Stephen Sondheim, in addition to Carnegie Hall's My Favorite
Broadway concerts (The Leading Ladies and The Love Songs),
and sang the role of Helen in a concert staging of Cole Porter's Out of
This World as part of New York Cinter Center's Encores! series.
She is married to Broadway star Jason Danieley, and recently appeared on
Broadway in the dual role of Aldonza/Dulcinea in Man of La Mancha,
opposite her Kiss Me, Kate and Ragtime co-star Brian Stokes
Mitchell. Her most recent New York appearance was as Lily Garland in a
concert of staging of On the Twentieth Century, opposite Joanne
Worley and Kathleen Turner. |
