Fontella Bass was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on July 3, 1940. Fontella had as excellent singing voice and is an accomplished piano and organ player. In the late ‘50s Fontella first came on the scene when she appeared with the St. Louis Gospel/Blues Show. She performed with the Oliver Sain Review. She was discovered by Little Milton and joined his band back in the early ‘60s. In the mid ‘60s Fontella began her career as a solo artist. She came out with many records during that time and produced hit records.
