Shirley Horn

 

Shirley Horn was born on May 1, 1934. She started playing the piano at the age of 4 and began formal music training a year later. Horn travelled to New York in 1960 to record a album. Miles Davis heard this album and he was so impressed that he ask her to appear with him at the Village Vanguard in New York City. Shirley began performing with major clubs around the United States and recording with Quincy Jones. Shirley Horn died on October 20, 2005, in Washington, DC.
