Gia
Carangi was one of the top models of the late 1970s, a favorite
with the editors of Cosmopolitan and Vogue. A regular at New York's
Studio 54, she was also the darling of moguls and movie stars, royalty and
rockers. It wasn't all glamour though. Gia sealed her fate
when she befriended heroin. It was a friendship that, at age
twenty-six, would cement her notoriety as one of the first women in
America to die of AIDS. Angelina Jolie portrayed her in the movie Gia. |
