Dated Alan Osmond for two years in the '70.

----------

When she recorded "Rainy Days and Mondays," she placed a few pillows on the studio floor, made herself comfortable and sang into the mike lying down to get into the mood of the song.

----------

Her best friend was Olivia-Newton John.

----------

When she was 18, Karen was being driven past the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles at the exact moment Robert Kennedy was shot.

----------

With the first money they earned Karen and Richard invested in apartment buildings across from one another in Downey, and appropriately named them "Only Just Begun" and "Close To You".

----------

In the Carpenters family crypt it is stipulated that Karen must always remain on the top as there are several places for caskets beneath.

----------

A star on Hollywood's Walk Of Fame was awarded to the Carpenters on October 12, 1983. Eight months after Karen's death.

----------

The Carpenters are second on the list of "Artists With The Most #2 Hits".  They had five, Elvis Presley had six.

----------

In September 1972, President Nixon invited the Carpenters to the White House for a photo session where he presented Richard with a set of golf balls and cufflinks and Karen with a gold powder compact, all bearing the presidential seal. He proclaimed Richard and Karen publicly as "young America at its best".

----------

By late 1981 Karen was up to 80-90 Dulcolax laxitives a day and had started thyroid medication at least three months prior.   This was to speed up her metabolism to burn more calories.
