Blacks tend to hate her because they actually believe she sold out.  She didn't sell out, she crossed over from the chittlins circuit to singing songs that other white musicians were singing. Just watch TCB. She is the one who did what she had to do and paved the way for many black women today.  When she wore wigs and eyelashes in the sixties women bought the very same item the following next day. A diva sets the tone and she can infuriate others by her presence.  Remember Barbra Streisand was heated when Miss Ross sang Funny Girl.  Ms. Streisand saw her as an threat. There are three icons who were loved by gay men - Judy Garland, Barbra Streisand and Miss Ross.  She is no bother for anything. She is truly a ultimate legend who has been around for four decades.  In closing, you may not like her but you definitely know who she is. The one and only diva. There is only one Diana Ross and we will never have another again. She has set the standards."

There would have never been a Bodyguard movie with Whitney Houston if Diana had not made it acceptable for a black woman to star in a major movie with a white male costar. She brought interracial marriage into focus and made it acceptable. The Concert in New York's Central Park, the many TV specials; and the Halftime Show at the Superbowl - all firsts for a black woman, and maybe for any woman. Every black person in America owes Diana Ross a debt of gratitude for standing up for her rights at London's Heathrow Airport when she was being groped by security. Most people just take it, but Diana said, you have no right to touch me like that. It is well known that well dressed black women are often targeted, harassed, and stripped searched because of racial profiling. They are said to be more likely to be smuggling drugs. The AFLCIO is currently involved in lawsuits to stop this racial profiling. She is a role model for black women, having lived a very public life for nearly 40 years without a hint of scandal. Diana has never been to the Betty Ford clinic for drinking & drugs like so many others. She has also raised 5 kids and by their own account, Diana has been a wonderful mother. She rocks!"
