As for being a diva or not, well if any piss artist of a prima donna qualifies
as a diva, then why have a vote about it at all? Karen Carpenter needed no
gimmicks. She was and remains a huge superstar and but for being part of a duo
would rate as the worlds greatest selling female solo artist, all the more
remarkable when worldwide record sales in her heyday were a small fraction of
what they are today, when even mediocrities can boast huge sales figures.
Moreover, her career was all but over in less than 7 years due to her ill
health, where today's stars take decades to rival her sales. Plenty of
sad bastards despise Karen Carpenter but her popularity will undoubtedly
outlive all her talentless critics and their snide remarks. Most of her
musical peers were very complimentary, from the Sex Pistols to the former
Beatles. If critics could sing and write songs they be doing so but all they
can do is critisize other people's work."
